Cookie policy
Last updated 29 October 2026. This page explains storage on your device when you use automatesmith.com. The privacy policy covers personal information more broadly.
The short version
Necessary storage remembers your cookie choice and, if you set it, your colour theme. Analytics and advertising stay off until you accept them, and they only load if those services are configured. Rejecting is as available as accepting. Nothing optional is pre-ticked.
Necessary
- Cookie choice. Stored in local storage under the key
as-consent. It records whether you allowed analytics, whether you allowed ads, a version number and a timestamp. This is so the site can respect the choice. It is not used to advertise to you. - Theme. Stored in local storage under
as-themeif you pick light or dark. If you never pick, the site follows your system setting and stores nothing.
Analytics
If you allow analytics and a Cloudflare Web Analytics token is set for the build, the site loads Cloudflare's beacon. That measurement is used to see which guides are read. It is not loaded if you reject analytics, or if no token is configured. Cloudflare describes the product in their Web Analytics documentation.
Advertising
If you allow advertising and a Google AdSense client id plus an ad slot are set, the site loads AdSense and shows a labelled ad unit. If either value is missing, the ad component renders nothing. Before consent, Google consent mode v2 sets ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to denied. After you accept, those signals are updated to granted. After you reject, they stay denied.
How to change your mind
You can clear site data in your browser, or use the button below. It forgets the saved choice and shows the banner again. Optional tags are not granted by that action. You still have to choose.
Browser controls
Browsers also let you block third-party cookies. Blocking them may stop ads even if you accepted them here. The theme and the articles still work.
